London, UK, 23 October 2009 - Toshiba UK today announces the launch of four new business laptops from its Satellite Pro series.

Offering business users a selection of products based on specific professional requirements, the new Satellite Pro range features models suitable for businesses of all sizes, from home office users to large enterprises. All models include a blend of security, protection and connectivity features, combined with standout multimedia capabilities to create a business range with a difference. Each new model also features Toshiba’s Eco-utility management system, an easy to use software application that enables users to monitor and control the amount of power consumed by up to 25% in idle mode.

All new Satellite Pro models launch with Microsoft Windows® 7 Professional as standard, providing faster, more secure and more reliable performance than ever before. Ease-of-use is further enhanced by a Touch Pad with Multi-Touch Control as an alternative to conventional scrolling.

Each of the new models also feature Toshiba LifeSpace, a new application suite exclusively-designed for Toshiba laptops with Windows® 7. LifeSpace helps users keep their desktop clear whilst facilitating the organisation of to-do lists, business meetings and important events. A virtual, customisable ‘Bulletin Board’ enables users to create instant thumbnail shortcuts, keeping desktops organised and offering one-click access to important files and folders. ‘ReelTime’ also accelerates file searching by automatically adding a shortcut to the timeline of recently used files, which can list up to 5,000 items visually, greatly reducing the time spent looking for documents.

The entire range is also fully compliant with the latest standards in energy efficiency, with full ENERGY STAR 5.0 certification.

Satellite Pro U500
The Satellite Pro U500 is a stylish, highly portable machine for the mobile worker. Powered by the latest Intel Core 2 Duo processing technology, the Satellite Pro U500 features a 13.3” Toshiba TruBrite® screen and integrated Intel GMA HD graphics technology – combining true portability with impressive all-round performance. All models include a DVD Super Multi drive, with wireless connectivity support for the latest WLAN (b/g/n) and Bluetooth. Internal hard disk drive (HDD) capacities of up to 400GB are protected against knocks and bumps by a 3D impact sensor, minimising the risk of data loss if the machine is ever dropped or damaged. Up to 4GB of RAM also enables multiple applications to run at the same time without a drop in overall performance.

USB connectivity provides the ability to connect to PDAs and external storage simultaneously, while Toshiba’s USB Sleep-and-Charge technology ensures that users can charge their mobile devices, even when the laptop is switched off. One allocated eSATA USB port provides the capacity to perform rapid transfers between the Satellite Pro U500 and peripheral devices, ensuring that documents can be swiftly saved to and from each machine. An integrated HD webcam and microphone offer the perfect facility for video conferencing, enabling mobile professionals to retain face-to-face dialogue with colleagues and associates, regardless of their location.

The Satellite Pro U500 features a standout exterior design to match its specification, with an elegant Luxe Brown finish and a stylish row of EasyControl buttons situated below the screen to provide one-touch access to key applications. Pricing starts from £569, with models available to buy from late October.

Satellite Pro L500
The new Satellite Pro L500 models have been designed to offer high-quality computing performance for businesses. Designed to offer versatility, these models are equipped with a choice of Intel Core 2 Duo processors, providing the power to speed through all regular working tasks. Intel GMA™ HD graphics processors supplement business performance with premium multimedia capabilities, making the Satellite Pro L500 more than just a word processor. High-capacity HDDs of up to 400 GB offers the capacity to carry all your work with you, providing more than enough space for important business documents, images and presentations.

Each model features a 15.6" Toshiba TruBrite® widescreen, combining with the HD graphics processing to ensure that everything from spreadsheets to PowerPoint presentations are bright, clear and easy to read.  4GB of RAM provides generous capacity for multitasking, and extensive connectivity includes the WLAN (b/g/n), HDMI, a 4-in-1 bridge media slot, and three USB inputs, one of which features eSATA support. Each model also features an integrated webcam and microphone for web video-conferencing.

The Satellite Pro L500 models features a Steel Grey Fusion finish with Breeze pattern accenting. All models are available from late October, with typical purchase prices starting from £469.

Satellite Pro L550
Created for professionals who require a little more space to work, the Satellite Pro L550 comes equipped with a 17.3” Toshiba TruBrite® HD screen, complete with LED backlighting to save power and improve response times. Offering an ideal display for graphics, spreadsheets and multimedia, the large, high resolution screen also provides an excellent platform for multimedia content, making the Satellite Pro L500 a highly capable desktop replacement models for the home office.

Featuring the latest Intel Core 2 Duo processing technology, each machine offers 4GB RAM as standard, providing the ability to multitask and increase personal productivity. A wide range of connectivity includes WLAN (b/g/n), HDMI, 2x USB, 1x eSATA/USB combo and a 4-in-1 Bridge media dock, proving compatibility with a range of memory card formats. Integrated hard disk drives (HDD) of up to 400GB provide extensive space for office documents and content libraries, while the integrated ATI Mobility Radeon™ HD graphics processor provides the capacity to handle both video and heavy multimedia presentations with ease.

With a Steel Grey Fusion finish and breeze patterning, the Satellite Pro L550 series models are as desirable as they are impressive. Typical purchase prices start from £729, with availability from late October.

Satellite Pro L450 / Satellite Pro L450D
Available with a choice of Intel Core2 Duo, Celeron or AMD processors, the 15.6” Satellite Pro L450 and Satellite Pro L450D provides powerful computing performance. Integrated storage capacity of up to 250GB provides generous amounts of space for office documents, while up to 2GB of RAM ensures the Satellite Pro L450/L450D is able to handle multiple documents and tasks at the same time.

All new Satellite Pro models feature an integrated VGA webcam and a microphone, enabling users to hold conference calls over the internet. Integrated connectivity includes WLAN (b/g/n), three USB ports (1x eSATA) for connectivity to PDAs, printers and scanners, and a 4-in-1 Bridge Media slot provides compatibility with various memory card standards.

The Satellite Pro L450/L450D is available in traditional glossy silver, with an A4 black texture keyboard. Models are available from late October, with typical purchase prices starting at £329.
